A Little Background
...Langston Hughes
“My poetry (represented on SeayWords.com) grew out of my fascination with the rich imagery in simple words and phrases. In the process of recording these simple but intriguing “words and phrases”, I began to discover my voice. Originally, writing poetry was not my primary interest; being an athlete, a college student, and later an engineer, took precedence.
Over time, what was a modest fascination became a passion, and what started as an interesting collection of words and phrases, became the foundation of my poetic voice. I found that I was spending a great deal of my spare time composing poems, mainly for myself and my personal enjoyment. All that changed after September 11, 2001. On that day, I was working at the Pentagon when it was attacked. What I experienced created a sense of urgency to share my passion for poetry. I was inspired to self-publish my first book, “Promise and Paradise”. A few excerpts from my published collections are provided on this website.
I am indebted to my family for their patience and understanding, as I continue to pursue my passion. I hope that you find something in my poetry that touches your heart, ignites your passion, or causes you to reconsider the state of relationships to one another." ...Robert Seay
